Overview

The Qolsharif Mosque, located within the Kazan Kremlin, is one of the most important Islamic landmarks in Russia. Originally built in the 16th century, it was named after Qolsharif, a religious scholar and leader who defended Kazan against Russian forces. The mosque was destroyed in 1552 during the Russian conquest but was rebuilt in 2005, symbolizing the resilience of the Tatar Muslim community.
